Amazon Suspends Most FBA Shipment Creation

March 17, 2020

In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, Amazon is suspending FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) shipments in the US and EU for most goods sold on the website. This is due to the rise in online shopping for household staples and medical supplies, and as such they are temporarily disabling shipment creation (as well as taking a similar approach with retail vendors). Here is what you need to know:

You can still ship products in the following categories to FBA:

  • Baby products
  • Health and household
  • Beauty and personal care (including personal care appliances)
  • Grocery
  • Industrial and scientific
  • Pet supplies

The suspension applies to all other FBA categories in the US and EU marketplaces.

This suspension will be in effect until April 5, 2020, and Amazon will notify you when regular activities resume.

Shipments created before March 17, 2020 will be received.

You can still sell products that are already at an Amazon fulfillment center or are on their way (up to March 17, 2020).

Amazon is not currently accepting requests to reclassify listings.

You are still able to sell non-household staples and medical supplies through merchant-fulfilled channels.

Amazon is working to prepare for the change in sellers’ individual Inventory Performance Index (IPI) scores, suggesting that sellers will not be punished if their inventory runs low.
